FlopTech Engineering has updated Poker Tweeter, their poker-focused Twitter app for iPhone. Users can now attach their current location to any tweet, and the update includes many cosmetic, feature, and stability improvements.

Poker Tweeter 1.6 requires an iPhone 4 or later running iOS 5.1 or later, and is available for $1.99 in the iPhone App Store.

Greg Merson is your 2012 World Series of Poker Main Event Champion. He overcame 8 other relative unknowns and set a new WSOP Main Event final table record of 399 hands on his way to victory. And it wasn't easy. There were all manner of chip swings, lead changes, double-ups, crippling river cards, and bizarre suckouts.

We had the opportunity to attend the event, and we took lots of pix from the mezzanine and stage. It was a grueling test of the players, TV crew, tournament directors, dealers,

The worst-kept secret in Silicon Valley was unveiled this morning in San Jose, California. Apple executives announced a new 7.9" iPad mini along with a substantially upgraded "4th generation" Retina iPad. In addition, Apple announced a new 13" Retina MacBook Pro, new ultra-thin 21.5" and 27" iMacs, a modestly improved Mac mini, new versions of iBooks and iBooks Author, and a new "Fusion" flash + HD hybrid storage system.

The iPad mini retains the same 1024 x 768 resolution and 4:3 aspect ratio as the original iPad and the iPad 2, but is only 7.2mm thick and weighs only 0.68 pounds. Apple claims that the mini is the thickness of a pencil, and that it is 23% thinner and 53% lighter than the Retina iPad. The iPad mini uses the same A5 chip as the iPhone 4S and boasts 10 hours of battery life.

The Retina iPad has received a massive performance boost while supposedly maintaining its predecessor's 10 hour battery life. Apple claims that the new iPad's A6X chip delivers twice the processor speed and graphics performance of last spring's third generation iPad with the A5X chip. Wireless connectivity improves with higher-performance wi-fi, and the cellular data chipset in the LTE models is supposedly compatible with more of the world's cell networks.

iPad mini pricing starts at $329 for the 16GB wi-fi only model and $459 for wi-fi + LTE. Black / slate and white / silver are the two color choices, but the optional Smart Cover for iPad mini is available for $39 in five pastel colors plus (PRODUCT) RED(tm) red. Retina iPad pricing remains the same, starting at $499 for the 16GB wi-fi-only model and $629 for the wi-fi + LTE model. The older iPad 2 model remains in the lineup, in a single 16GB size at $399 for wi-fi-only and $529 for wi-fi + 3G. (And last spring's third generation Retina iPad has apparently disappeared completely.)

As had been widely rumored, Apple announced the new iPhone 5 today in San Francisco. iPhone 5 is thinner, taller, lighter, and faster than its predecessor, and features an aluminum enclosure that replaces most of the glass on the back of the iPhone 4S. Apple claims that it has better battery life despite high speed LTE connectivity, larger 4" diagonal screen, faster processor, faster graphics chip, and faster Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity. iOS 6 will come pre-installed, with an updated Maps app, a new Passbook mobile ticket and pass app, and Panorama Photo Mode among its 200 new features.

iPhone 5 will be available in two color schemes: White and Silver and Black and Slate. Pricing will remain the same as for the iPhone 4S: $199 for the 16GB models, $299 for the 32GB models, and $399 for the 64GB models. Pre-ordering will begin on September 14th, and in-store purchases will begin on September 21st in nine countries including the US and Canada.

Apple executives also announced new iPod nano and iPod touch models, next-generation EarPod headphones, a major update to iTunes, and the all-new high speed Lightning dock connector. The company is widely expected to announce a new, smaller iPad model next month along with mildly updated Retina iPads.

Antonio Esfandiari won big Tuesday night. And not just poker-big. His $18,346,673 first place money would have been the largest individual prize in all of sports, if poker were actually a sport. But it wasn't just about winning money or the one-of-a-kind platinum WSOP bracelet. Esfandiari has locked up a premier spot in poker history.

We're grateful that we were right there, able to experience the drama, energy, and soul of the event. And we got lots of photos.

Apple kicked off their annual World Wide Developer Conference in San Francisco by releasing a new MacBook Pro with an ultra-high resolution 15.4" Retina display. It is 0.71 inches thick, weighs only 4.6 pounds, and is available only with flash-based SSD storage. Processing power is provided by a either a 2.3GHz or 2.6GHz quad-core Intel Core i7, with Intel HD Graphics 4000 and NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M graphics processing units. And, like the MacBook Air before it, the new MacBook Pro lacks a SuperDrive DVD reader/writer.

Software announcements included a near-final developer preview of OS X 10.8 "Mountain Lion" and the first beta of iOS 6. Expected to ship on the 2012 iPhone this fall, iOS 6 features include new 3d mapping technology, expanded Siri features, pervasive Facebook integration, and a mobile event pass and ticketing app called Passbook.

Bay 101 regular Moon Kim bested friend and fellow Bay 101 grinder Ubaid "Obie" Habib in heads-up play to take down the $960,900 first place prize. This year's final TV table had less star power than those of previous years, but the local fans were in full force for this one. And they had plenty to cheer about, with many dramatic flops, turns and rivers in key hands.

Long time poker announcer and Bay Area native Ali Nejad guest-hosted, handling tournament directing and announcing duties with energy and style. This event should make for a great series of shows.

Montréal pro Erik Cajelais will bring the big stack of over 3.6 million chips to today's World Poker Tour main event TV table. His classic tight-aggressive style worked well, he chose his spots carefully, and he showed he wasn't afraid to move chips around.

Two locals (Moon Kim, Ubaid Habib) will do battle with Cajelais, along with Joe Serock,
Andrew Badecker, and Joseph Elpayaa with the short stack at just under 1 million chips.
Top prize is just under a cool million US dollars.

CEO Tim Cook and other Apple executives took to the stage Wednesday morning to show off "the new iPad" in a keynote event in San Francisco's Yerba Buena Center. The new iPad boasts an ultra-high resolution "Retina" display, faster processor and graphics, optional LTE data connectivity, and improved cameras.

Additional announcements at the event included a new Apple TV with 1080p output, iOS 5.1, iPhoto for iPad and iPhone, and iTunes 10.6.
