WPT at Bay 101 2011 Day 1b
15 March 2011

Bay 101 Casino's unique fountain

The World Poker Tour Bay 101 Shooting Stars event is always a fan favorite. It's probably a favorite of everyone except the Shooting Stars themselves, who need to deal with a $5K bounty on their heads. No, it's not worth going broke trying to win half a buy-in by knocking out a Shooting Star player. But it does add a little incentive to bust them.

We spent some time railing Phil Ivey's table, but he wasn't able to make much happen. He did manage to triple up his relatively short stack when he flopped a miracle straight after shoving preflop. But soon after that he took a massive hit. His aces were cracked by a flopped set of deuces and he never recovered.

Play ended just after 10pm when the Prince of Poker himself, Scotty Nguyen, busted out. 117 players remained out of the day 1b field. All 170 day 1a and day 1b survivors will play in a single group for the first time tomorrow on day 2.
