WSOP10 Main Event - Day 5
CEO "Rocket Boy" 14 July 2010
This year's Main Event field had been thinned by 97%+ by the time we showed up, and the enormous Amazon Room was mostly empty. What a difference 8 days makes.
We spotted many well-known pros of all ages, including the one and only Johnny "Orient Express" Chan. And, of course, the man whose inscrutable thought processes have spawned a thousand silly prop-bets: Johnny Lodden.
Hasan "Ha-saaaan Ha-biiiib!!!!" Habib in a pensive moment.
In the final hour of play on day 5, the player count dropped from 242 to 196. Bustouts and double-ups happened left and right. This may have been triggered by the $7k payout increase from 244th to 243rd place.
The first player to bust on day 6 will get $48,847, but each and every remaining player wants the big cheese. November Nine TV glory, a shot at major sponsorship, and of course the first prize of $8.9 million. This year's Main Event just might be one for the ages, but it's still way too early to make any predictions.
